I’m full of sympathy — just two weeks ago I delivered half of a copywriting job that my contact had commissioned before going on holidays. In her absence, the work was sent to an external editor that the organisation uses, who trashed my work, said she had to substantially rewrite it and then nominated herself to do the other half of the job.

My contact returned to work, stayed a week and resigned over the matter. It was the final straw for her.

Ultimately, it’s just bad editing. And I looked up the external editor who trashed my work — she isn’t anywhere. She has a distinctive name but no website of her own, isn’t a member of any IPED
